Follow Up Day

After taking the Park Tool School many of our students are itching to get busy with turning some wrenches on their own bikes. During class time students do not have the opportunity to work on their own bikes. To assist in this desire to “get wrenching” we offer follow up days for all former students from any of the courses that are offered through here.

As a former student you can attend a follow up day once, twice or fifty times. For that matter you can work on your bike, a friend’s bike, or whoever’s bike you would like to bring in. We always schedule the follow up days on a Saturday, and there will be at least 1 Winterborne Bicycle Institute employee/mechanic on hand to offer advice on the repair you are doing.

If you would like to have some specific parts on hand for your repair during a Follow Up Day, then contact Winterborne Bicycle Institute at least 1 week before hand so we can be sure that any parts you would like to install are here for you.

All the tools will be available for use, and all the reference material will also be here for you to assist in your repair. Please note though, that the on staff mechanics are here to offer advice and point you in the correct direction, they are not here to do your repair for you. The Follow Up Day is an opportunity for you to work on your bike under supervision.

One additional cautionary note. Please make sure that your repair is realistic given the time frame, and your experience. For some mechanics it is an unrealistic goal to attempt an overhaul in an 8 hour period. Plan your repair accordingly, if you lack experience it might be a better idea to try to isolate a specific system or a specific job, such as a drive train cleaning, or maybe a shift cable set up.

See our calendar of events for the next Follow Up Day, and e-mail us of your intention to attend.
