Rims

When wheels are built here at Winterborne Custom Bicycles we encourage our customers to select only the best rim options available to them. There are several things to keep in mind when selecting a rim for your wheel build.

  • 1) What will the wheel be used for...ie commuting, racing, off road riding, Touring, or Training.
  • 2) What size and profile tire will be mounted on the wheel once it's built?
  • 3) How many spokes?
  • 4) Would you prefer an all around riding training type rim, or a lightweight-racing rim?
  • 5) Do you want the additional strength of rim eyelets?
  • 6) What profile would you like the rim to have?
  • 7) Do you want to run Clincher beaded, UST, or Glue on type tires?
  • 8) Welded or pinned joint?
  • 9) And of course how much of a budget do you have for your sweet new Winterborne Wheelset?

Here are some Rims that we Recomend to our Customers

Most Winterborne Wheels customers enjoy the advantages offered them by a Mavic Rim. The Mavic line up offers a wide range of extremely well built rims in many different price ranges. We have built on almost all the Mavic, and have yet to be disappointed with the results. http://www.mavic.com/

A great choice for the 29'r set would be the Salsa Delgado. This is a budget priced rim that has produced excellent results. www.salsacycles.com/rims.html

For all around beat them up mountain bike rims you can't go wrong with the Sun Ryno Lites. These budget priced wheels have kept mountain bikers happy for season after season. http://www.sun-ringle.com/contentpages/mtb/rims/allmountain.php5

Please note we do not sell rims on their own, we only sell them in a hand built wheel package. Call for pricing on our custom wheel build packages 519-826-0556.
